neadods @ 3:00pm: Some recipes
archived for future reference; open for anyone who's interested: Crockpot Chai Latte recipeAlso, a bento/tea party idea (thus the new tag "bentea"): thin-slice a seedless cucumber and serve with a scoop of hummis on top. A roasted pine-nut garlic hummis would be divine on this, IMO. Other healthy nibbles: - dried dates stuffed w/cream cheese and an almond - dill harvati/snow pea (mangetot) skewers - clementines (satsumas), already peeled and sectioned. (people eat more if they can just pop 'em in and not have to peel them) - (stolen from suricattus) prosciuttos wrapped around a dried fig

tennant_love @ 12:53pm: Some DT goodies from the American side
I haven't seen these links posted yet, so in the spirit of the season I'd thought I'd share if anyone's interested. First up a snippet from MTV about DT's view on Doctor Who comics. There's no spoilers here, as it only about comics, and the video was obviously done the day of the DW panel at Comic-con. Alas the video I believe is only viewable by those of us in the USA (if I knew how to change that I would. If someone more computer savvy can do it, please do), but there's a full transcript of what's said word for word below it. Up next is an interview with New Jersey Star-Ledger tv critic Alan Sepinwall. This interview is also spoiler free though it's all DW related and he asks for the comments to remain spoiler free. Finally the transcript of the interview behind last weekend's LA Times story. Also spoiler free, except for a link to the clip from The End of Time that was released during CiN. Merry Christmas to everyone, and thanks to everyone who's shared David Tennant goodies here, especially as I'm from the wrong side of the pond and wouldn't see or know about them otherwise.

rude_not_ginger @ 2:29pm: for tm_aurora: Careful What You Pack
FOR THE DRABBLE MEME.• The known, the unknown, and the underknown Look at what she found Digging all around by the goldfish pond She's going to get in trouble now Shaking up the bees, swinging from the tree Doesn't understand She's in trouble now . •"Why are you here?" It's not the most pleasant way he's spoken to someone, and he shouldn't be too surprised that Jeanne-Marie looks offended. The offended look is brief, though, flickering quickly on her face before settling into pleasant surprise. She likes the Doctor, she hasn't seen him in a while. "It's a party," she says. "We only meet up at parties." She takes a step towards him, and he takes a step back. She looks a little offended again, but she shakes it off. It's been a rough year for mutants. He's not surprised she's learned to shake off little offenses. "I'm talking to a reporter from the Sun about what happened to my brother," she says. She looks around the room in disgust at the anti-mutant members of Parliament giving her glares. There are so many of them here. The Doctor touches the detonator in his pocket. He came here for a very different reason. "You need to leave," he says, and there's no warmth to his voice, no pleasantries. None of the kind, friendly man she knew, or thinks she knows. "But---" "Just go," he says. She's not offended this time, she's just confused. She thinks she knows him, but she only knows part of his story, the part he spends on Earth, the part where he's had a few glasses of champagne and can't dance properly to save his life. She doesn't know about this part of him. He doesn't want her to. But she wants to. She crosses her arms and stands her ground. She's much shorter than he is, but she's a presence in and of herself. "What if I don't want to?" she demands. He thinks about what he left in the basement, thinks about the things he's doing now, and thinks about the one innocent life standing before him. Three years ago, when he first met her, he wouldn't have been here. There'd have been no other choices but to save the one life. Now, he weighs the loss. rude_not_ginger @ 2:19pm: for brigadiertardis: Pretty Things
FOR THE DRABBLE MEME.• Pretty things, so what if I like pretty things Pretty lies, so what if I like pretty lies From where you are, to where I am now I need these pretty things, around the planets of our phase Everything's a sign of my astrology From where you are, to where I am now Is its own galaxy. •The Doctor taps his foot impatiently, but that only makes Martha smile. It's good, him waiting for her for once. And, besides, it's not like she does this sort of thing all the time. "We'll be late," he says, irritably. "I'm just fixing up my hair," she tells him. "You've been trying on clothes for a half hour, Martha! We need to get going!" She sticks her head out of the door, half of her hair up in curlers, the other half out and fluffed. "I've seen how long you spend on your hair, mister," she says. "You're not allowed to start talking about how much I like dressing up or not." She goes back in and continues to work on her hair. "Besides, just because I work as a doctor and like running about with you, I'm still a girl. I still like pretty things!" "I noticed," he replies, still grumpy. Martha sighs and pulls out the rest of the curlers. Her hair is in a perfect 60's bob, just right for the party the Doctor wants to go to. She straightens the skirt she's found in the wardrobe room and buttons up the jacket. The outfit is a little loose on her hips and shoulders, but she looks damn good, if she does say so herself. Not that he'll notice, of course. She steps out and gives a little spin. "What do you think?" He actually starts at her appearance, and she thinks, just for a moment, that he's impressed. That somehow he really likes the pink skirt and jean jacket combination on her with the slightly-too-loose pink high heels, and he's seeing her for the first time. But his expression settles quickly, and he's all masks again. She's done something wrong, but she hasn't the faintest idea what. It's so frustrating with him. She thinks she's done something right, but it's never right. Never what she expects. "It's fine," he says, and he turns away. And no, no, he didn't see her again. But she'll lie to herself, just for a little while, because it keeps her from turning around and going back home. She has 1960 to see. She can't miss that because she's hurting. 9_movie @ 1:59pm: 9 Sue Litmus Test
I'm in the process of putting together a 9 Mary Sue Litmus Test. For exactly what a Sue Litmus Test is, please refer to the Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test. With the fandom having been around for a few months, surely most of you have witnessed some Sueish OCs. I'm looking for suggestions for what I might add to my 9 exclusive test. I don't want to get all personal here, though, and offend somebody, so let's keep it general. Suggestions for anti-Sue traits are also welcomed!

lillard_fans @ 6:24pm: Matthew pays tribute to his two time co-star Brittany Murphy.
Like countless others, Matthew Lillard loves and misses his three-time co-star more than he can say “I loved her,” Matthew Lillard, who co-starred with Brittany Murphy in Summer Catch, The Groomsmen, and the upcoming Shrinking Charlotte, tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively in a statement. “She was effervescent and lit up the world while she was here. [She had] a sweetness and honesty that will be sadly missed. It’s tragic another incredible actor has left us way too early.” Matthew is the latest in a long line of friends and co-stars that dearly miss the 32-year-old actress, who died on Dec. 20 from unknown causes. Source here- It's not true that they both starred in Shrinking Charlotte as it wasn't due to start filming until the end of January, so hopefully they can find a decent replacement to take over Brittany's role and filming will continue.

cleolinda @ 11:08am: The Day of the Eve of Giftmas
Pleasantly busy day, it looks like. Howling winds outside, actually, but sunnyish, so that's fine. Have to wrap presents later. I hate wrapping presents. I mean, I do an okay job of it in the end, and I like presents to be wrapped, but it usually involves me wrestling with a large, fragile sheet of shiny paper for about fifteen minutes. Still have to take certain pictures. TLB went missing earlier this morning, but was eventually located. I would rather not discuss how the tableshelf ended up covered in maple syrup. Lizzie's McAfee trial ran out, so I was like, the hell with this, I'm putting AVG on. So now I'm having to do all the scans and setups and whatever, but I hear it's better anyway. (I am really glad it has a rootkit scan, because isn't that what Sony put on its CDs for a while there?) For those of you keeping track on the Aromaleigh front, Wish is really pretty with Damask. It's a similar look to Chloe/Amelie, but more pink and less peach. My feet are killing me, which suggests to me that I need new/better shoes, or some kind of comfort-inducing insert (although those "I'm Gellin'!" commercials make me want to slap someone). I actually want to go buy me some Chucks with my next round of book money, although I doubt those will have any kind of support. Hm. I just want some of those because I rarely get more formal than sneakers, but Chucks are an ever-so- slightly more sophisticated aesthetic than scuffed tennis shoes, you know? And you can customize them! I kind of want to make a purple plaid. I do not see any way to order a foot massage, however.
nonelvis @ 12:05pm:
In honor of Patrick Stewart's impending knighthood, Andrew Sullivan has been linking clips of Stewart's guest role on Sesame Street. This excerpt should be especially relevant to the interests of fellow Hamlet fans on the flist.
