Children in Need auction for shooting schedule of David Tennant's episode of SJA: here

Don't forget David Tennant is on the Graham Norton Show tonight at 10.35pm on BBC1!

BFI say there are no public tickets going on sale tomorrow for the RSC / David Tennant Hamlet screening on 14/12 as members over-subscribed.
That's great for the RSC and the 'Hamlet' production team! Shame for those fans who missed out, though

Favorite Color: Currently, deep periwinkle purple. All-time: neon pink and electric yellow.
If I was a criminal, I'd be... good if Reid asked me to be. And I'd always wear leather.

Title: Untitled #23
Rating: M
Pairing: Supposedly Eight/Roberts!Master but it probably works for others Doctor/Master.
Summary: Gooey snake fic.
Beta: By [info]ruzei (Thank you so much <3 You're awesome!) And a special thanks goes to Ann for helping me with the Doctor's lines.
A/N: Inspired by a post a couple weeks ago on [info]best_enemies which was when I started writing this. Technically, it was supposed to be a mere cute/fluffy/smutty fic featuring the Master's snake-thing-ish that appears on the DW Movie, but since I can't apparently write anything but dark angsty drama, it turned out wholly different.

Dear Author Person,

Look. Everyone needs a Kaukauna Cheese Log in book form once in a while. Stodgy, dodgy, strangely tasty, one puts it away swearing not to touch it again and yet a few hours later one is getting it out for a little more. I find most quest fantasy falls into this category for me, and yet I keep reading quest fantasy hoping for something good. Once in awhile I find it. So I decided to read something that had been recommended to me and was available at my local library.

I don't know you; in fact, prior to this book I'd never heard of you. However, I have an amazing track record for authors finding my shallow rants book reviews to either take me to task or just scare me by saying howdy. So I'm not going to identify your book or you. Nonetheless, I'm here to tell you something for your own good: never write another shape changer novel. Please. You might also like to avoid Young Persons fiction. You're terrible at both. Your influences are showing so hard I think I can identify the passages from each book you committed to memory when you were twelve.

In addition, please select a less limited plot next time. I kept waiting for you to subvert the paradigm or some damn thing, but nooo. You telegraphed what was happening in the first chapter and then that is by god what you wrote. Did they have to meet in a tavern? Did there have to be paladins? Did it have to be wolves? Couldn't you have been, I don't know, a wily old llama/shaman? Yes, you could have been, but then you couldn't have set your novel in a fake medieval Europe, and I'm sure you never even considered anything else.

Perhaps I wrong you. But right now I'm trying to get the cheese log out of my brain and I'm mad at you.

No love,
Athenais

Latest Headline - Top Gear 'ad' breached guidelines:

"A spoof car advert shown on BBC Two's motoring show Top Gear was too graphic for the time of its broadcast, the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has ruled.

The mock advert, which featured a man committing suicide by shooting himself in the head, prompted 50 complaints.

The BBC argued that the advert, shown before the 2100 watershed on 2 August, was 'ludicrous and obviously comic'.

But Ofcom found the programme in breach of its guidelines, saying it 'exceeded audience expectations'."
settiai @ 1:50pm: LJ Comments?
Is LiveJournal doing that thing where comments randomly don't show up again? Because I just typed up a comment and posted it, only for it to not appear. The comment count is correct (including the new comment in the number), but the comment just... isn't there.

So, is LJ misbehaving? Or am I losing my mind?

Kris Allen's CD is available for streaming now, and the fans seem to like it. Those of them that live in the US, that is. No streaming for us plebs on the other side of the Atlantic! Silly regional barriers [insert usual rant about inherent stupidness of regional barriers and assbackwardness of those decisions].

*sulks*

Oh, and the actual CD is almost twice the price of other current discs. Like Robbie Williams'. Or The Muse. All these big-hitters have CDs costing 60 kr. Kris'? 100 kr. That's just not fair. I mean, I like the Pocket Idol, but I dislike paying full price for any record, especially ones I haven't had the chance to listen to beforehand. Oh, and not when Adam's CD is priced at 80 kr. What's up with that?

*pouts for good measure*

(Oh, and just for the record: I'm probably not going to be discussing Lambert's music here. I love the man, and wish him all the best in the world, but his voice and his music don't work in my ears. Personal preferences and all that jazz...)

2222 words on Grail today, finished chapter one and started chapter two, and in a minute here I have to eat something and then go swim and then go over to a friend's house and have tea and borrow the fax machine. The days are just packed, I tell you.

Last night, I got about 1600 words on Shadow Unit related material, which I logged for today because I had already posted.

Yep. I am mighty. I have no idea what's happening in this book, except people are sitting around eating and worrying about each other, but I have faith, It'll all come right in the end.

[info]saavikam77 asks, Is there any real difference between the full and contracted past tense forms of certain verbs (burned/burnt, leaped/leapt, etc.)? Are there particular situations in which it's not okay to use the contracted form?

As with many things, the answer depends on whether you're writing in American or British English. With examples from Supernatural and Sherlock Holmes. )

Hotch finally talks! Well, in Hotchlike manner. ;)

I also need to give big, HUGE props to my beta [info]cala_jane who is tasked with keeping me on track both for the case as well as the character development.

FINALLY! I HAVE ATTAINED YOU!

cleolinda @ 11:13am: ARGH
Okay, you know what? I've held out for nearly three and a half months now, but I am nearly at my breaking point (even though we are now in the home stretch). I am SICK of not having my own computer to work on. There are huge disadvantages to sharing a computer that you just really don't even think of until you have to do it yourself. I HATE logging out of everything every time I walk away from the computer, because the hell I'm leaving my email accounts vulnerable to prying eyes. And on your average day? I need to be logged into LJ, JournalFen, Yahoo email, Gmail (with Reader and Documents), Twitter, Delicious for bookmarks, Pandora, a couple of message boards, and my file storage account; my life would be infinitely easier if I could just stay logged in. So I HATE dumping the cache and the cookies and the browsing history and even the SEARCH history if I so much as duck out for a glass of tea, and I HAVE to do it, because you know why? You know why? Researching the @#$%*&@ e-book footnotes, that's why. If I didn't, you'd go to the Google drop-down search box and get "bella's felted womb," "dead from coke," "edward lipstick," "gq motherfucker," "total eclipse sex scene," 5000 Twilight articles, and "twincest." And there is NO WAY I am letting my family know I spent that much time looking up shit about Twilight.

I can't do a whole hell of a lot on this computer either, since it's like eight years old as it is--in excellent condition, but it's only got 30GB storage, you know? You can infer from that what the processor thingamawhatever speed must be like. It just can't do a lot. It can't handle Skype, for example. And I don't have any of my pet programs (Semagic for LJ, TweetDeck, ACDSee photo organizing, and probably a ton of others I've forgotten because IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I'VE USED THEM), because the computer either can't handle a given program or it can't handle them all together. And we THOUGHT it had Photoshop, but apparently not, and while I'm pretty handy on that, I apparently am too stupid to operate MS Paint. People keep telling me how to crop and I just. can't. manage it. And then I go back to Firefox and accidentally hit "home" instead of "new tab" and I lose my entire LJ entry draft, because whenever it tries to recover a "saved" draft, it gives me the previous entry I already posted. HATRED.

And then I can't really save images (no room, plus other people looking at my shit) or watch videos (I hate being walked in on while I'm trying to watch whatever weird-ass thing someone just linked on Twitter. Mostly I just don't have time because I'm under the gun to get anything done before someone else needs the computer), assuming I could get the video to work at all. Because I physically can't get time at the computer as much as I'd like, my Google Reader news items just sit and pile up, so every morning I have "1000+," and one day I cleared 600 items and STILL had 1000+. I keep having to star things I want to go back and use in the footnotes or save pictures from, and I am TIRED OF IT.

If I didn't have the iBella--which at least has a camera, an mp3 player, and apps for Twitter, Pandora and my email that I DON'T HAVE TO LOG OUT OF--I would have gone insane by now. The day I figured out how to copy-paste links on my phone, I nearly wept for joy. Even there, I can't really answer emails or LJ comments at any length--if it's going to be a short reply, I can tap it out with a minimum of head-meeting-wall, but y'all know how wordy I am. We get to more than two sentences and I just can't manage it; I have to wait to answer until I get to the (shared) (family) computer. And then I have to log into umpteen thousand things all over again but then someone else needs the computer RIGHT NOW and I have to dump everything and hope no one noticed that I was at that moment searching "vampire sex toys." Oh, and blip.fm just doesn't work on the iPhone at all. RAAAAAAAGE.

Only one more week until [New Computer's Name] arrives. I will console myself with a peppermint chocolate chip milkshake from Chick-fil-A, I think.

Well, here’s the con report. My memories are fading already, and I’ve conveniently omitted a lot of things, but I hope this gives a nice overall look as how stuff went down. If you read all of it, you get... um... my thanks.

Let’s get on with this shindig. )

So yeah! Good weekend. After all the hints and spoilers I’ve heard about the specials and S5, I can’t wait. Especially for S5. And now, apparently, [info]spastasmagoria and I will have a panel at ChicagoTARDIS as well, unless the schedule will get changed. And I’ve already been asked to draw next year’s program cover, so now I’ve got a year to figure how what to do for drawing Six and Jamie. Suggestions?
